lyrics
A million lifetimes
A million lifetimes, the sea reclaims the shore
Memories remembered
But I’ve forgotten many more
So many others like us
Like those who came before
Years treading water
With nothing much to show
I promised you my love
And you gave yours in return
We set out on this life
With few expectations
It really begs the question
But I didn’t know it then
Why’s it so impossible
To ever get ahead
A million lifetimes
I was always told that
The cream rises to the top
And those who climb the ladder
Are those that bother to show up
But long nights at the foundry
I saw it clear as day
scum rises to the top
By cutting workers pay
These years have seen the fruit
of a long ago planted seed
It’s roots reach every house of power, feeding corporate greed
Money for a million lifetimes,
more than anyone could need
Exponential wealth wrung from us
Chokes us like a weed
A million lifetimes
It don’t take a genius to see
the numbers don’t work out
To Extract wealth from the working class
Is what it’s always been about
Socialize the losses, offshore all the gains
Once again it’s the rest of us, left holding the bag
Despite my better judgement
I hope some day we’ll find a way
To set aside our grievance and fight the real enemy
Take courage when the time comes,
There’s more of us than them
Never forget that their means justifies their end
A million lifetimes

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer

hardcore punk, jazz, alien themes, kind of all my jams wrapped into a tight package. Intense, freaky, lean runtime but feels dense especially being sectioned into essentially 4 parts. Easily one of the best punk records of the decade so far. Also that drumming...holy shit alienasu
Beautifully moody art rock from Virginia that recalls the dark glory of bands like Echo & the Bunnymen and Psychedelic Furs. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 18, 2020
